Why use a control system integrator for safety?:

- Not impeded by other business responsibilities
- Experienced in reducing risks to a tolerable level
- Provides documentation of effort
What services to expect:
- Hazard and risk assessment
- Cooperatively engineered remediation
- Retrofit or upgraded control circuits
- Testing and validation
- As-built documentation and drawings
Barriers to using outside help:
- Lack of internal knowledge and/or trust
- Embarrassing conditions
- Management is focused on cost and not value
- Impedance of workflow
- Technology and brand inconsistencies
Warning signs when evaluating firms:
- T&M arrangement
- Proposal lacks detail of work
- Deliverables vague or undefined
- Missing credentials or certifications
- Lack of professional liability insurance
