Project: Air Handler Unit Control Upgrade

Service: I/O Drawing, PID Loops, Technical Writing of Current System

A pharmaceutical manufacturing facility uses air handler units, located in validated and non-validated areas, as a means to circulate and control the temperature of air flow and the humidity throughout the facility.  The PLCs controlling these units were outdated and needed to be upgraded.

As a solution to their request, MartinCSI upgraded the current PLC processor to a modern, sustainable version, creating reliable performance of the air handler unit.  Upon completion of the upgrade, validation documentation was completed regarding the units in the validated areas, comparing actual system functionality to the system's requirements and regulations.

As a result, this upgrade reduced potential downtime of the air handler unit in the case the obsolete PLC failed, as well as met the requirements and regulations needed to validate the unit.
